Hornsby District Junior Baseball Association
While not strictly RHBL history these photos are part of the history of junior baseball in the district.
These 2 photographs were submitted by Russ Shaw who founded the Hornsby District Junior Baseball Association in the early eighties. That’s him in the blue cap (NSW U12 selector at the time).
“I have attached photos of what I recall are our representative finals of 83/84 season held at Kuringai in either U14 and U12 or U13 and U11 whatever it was then. As I recall the teams were made up from Thornleigh and Pennant Hills teams.”
Does anyone know some history or who are the actual players?
Junior Winter Development League Trials
In recent years the RHBL has been running a winter development program designed for junior baseball athletes in preparation for the representative season. The focus being primarily on providing high performance development over the winter period.
General feed-back from coaches, players and parents were very positive. However, many suggested to split the eight week program into a development and competition based format.
As a result, the Junior Winter Development League (JWDL) was formed in 2012 by the RHBL Representative Committee (RHBLRC) and approved by the RHBL Executive.
The Junior Winter Development League (JWDL) is an ‘in-house’ development competition held throughout May and July 2012.
The purpose of the JWDL is to provide RHBL affiliated U12, U14 and U15 players with the opportunity to further develop their baseball skills during the winter off-season. It is also the first stage of Representative Selections.
